2007 was a different year for music, with some very eclectic choices making a lot of Top Ten lists. The mix tape is a great way to showcase what meant a lot to me throughout the year. One side is relaxing, and the other is a party mode made available to the listener.
Side A is a catchy, laid back dance side for either a party if turned up loud enough, for happier driving times or cleaning house moments. Beth In Battle Mode out of Toronto got a nod here for their infectious song "No Feeling". I showed it to a few friends, who fell in love with it and don't understand why it's not available at HMV. Check out the show, buy it there, it's well worth it. The rest are the first songs I'd put on if sampling the album for someone to see if it fits their tastes.
Side B is what I play during dinner or something to tune the world out with a set of headphones. The Wooden Sky is a Toronto-based band singing a beautiful song about love and its problems and another album you should buy after one of their shows. Kevin Drew's "Safety Bricks" didn't get the radio hit but the best "wee-ooo, wee-ooo, wee-ooo" possibly ever recorded. It'll make you feel instantly happy.
Happy 2007!
