Music sharing program Songbird has released an updated version that adds more power to the software and makes it more aesthetically pleasing than rival iTunes.
The new version, released last Wednesday under the name ‘Developers preview 0.5’, has fixed hundreds of bugs and has added several key changes, notably the easier-on-the-eyes background, MTP support as well as a new look for the player.
Songbird’s developers took a stab at Apple’s popular iTunes software, asking if users were “Tired of music players that look like spreadsheets?”
Songbird allows users to search for music files embedded in webpages, and brings all the files found to the play list window, instead of the user having to look over the entire page for the link.
It also allows users to download the music files right from the sites, or purchase the tracks from Amazon, iTunes, eMusic, or Amie Street.
A full list of the updated version’s changes can be found here.
